Dennis Rainey: Who do you think has the most important occupation in our country?

Guest: Sometimes it would be easier to work than to stay home with the kids. I remember after Carl was first born, I felt like I wasn't making money, I wasn't working hard, in the way most people think of working hard. So I felt like a lesser member of society.[ Read Full Transcript ]

Dennis Rainey: I want to encourage every mom listening today. Your work is crucial to the well-being of our society. Listen to the words of President Theodore Roosevelt, on the importance of being a mom:

"When all is said and done, it is the mother, and the mother only, who is a better citizen than the soldier who fights for his country. ... The mother who does her part in rearing and training aright the boys and girls who are to be the men and women of the next generation, is of greater use to the community, and occupies, if she only would realize it, a more honorable as well as more important position than any man in it. She is more important, by far, than the successful statesman, or businessman, or artist, or scientist."

One final thought. You know, in our culture, mothers are not given the respect they deserve. Today, find a woman who's fulfilling the crucial role of being a mom. Tell her, "Thank you for doing such an important job." She can never hear it enough.

I'm Dennis Rainey, and that's Real FamilyLife.

Thank you for your recognition. Many days go by without the accolades of "job well done", the "you've been a great boss and we will miss when you move, party", the "raise", the feeling of "job well done" at the end of the day, the "clocking out and going home"!!!

This brought tears to my eyes, for the awareness of the hardest and BEST job I have ever had. Thank you for that.
